- The area must be concrete or asphalt, to maintain a stable surface in wet or icy conditions.
- A grade of no more than 3 degrees so the barrels will not slide and cause damage.
ARRAY LAYOUT:
- Review the plan of where the barrels are to be placed and determine the centre line of impact by a vehicle for the rows of barrels
- Mark on the road the centre line with chalk
- Position the lids of the barrels centered to the line with correct pacing between lid
- Mark around the lids with chalk
FIELD ASSEMBLY:
- Connect the two separate units together to form a barrel
- Place the sand barrels in the position of the chalked lid area
- The easiest way to fill the barrel is the use a concrete truck and simply tip the sand into the barrel to the correct level for the required weight, dry sand is required as the sand must disperse on impact
- Place the lid on the barrel and apply pressure at the rim to snap the lid on. The lids are designed to fit tightly to prevent theft
- If the lid needs to be removed use a bar or fibreglass batten working around the edge to pry the lid off
